A committee comprised of a dozen people from all the avenues of David's life has been very busy looking at ways to honour our friend. The following intiatives were selected from numerous suggestions:
- Creating a math and/or community scholarship in David Stickney's name. The scholarship would honour David and create a legacy for students for years to come.
- Placing a memorial park bench and/or plaque in a suitable area, that will tell the story of Dave's community contributions as a neighbour, teacher and friend.
- Renaming Markham Avenue in South Leaside to "Stickney Way". This is a community wide gesture supported by hundreds of residents.
To fulfill these goals we invite all members of the Leaside Community, David's friends, students and colleagues both past and present to join us for an evening of fund raising and celebration of his extraordinary life.
The evening will be filled with stories of Dave, silent auctions, raffles, smiles and laughter all while raising money to commemorate our friend.
Appetizers and a complimentary drink are included with your ticket purchase. Silent Auction and Raffle items include several sets of Leaf Tickets, Toronto Soccer Club VIP seats, Bobby Orr framed portraits, 4 Hockey Hall of Fame tickets signed by George Armstrong, a family portrait Sitting by Ronald Miller Photography, Argo Tickets, a Hockey Hall of Fame Family Pack and several restaurant gift certificates.
Dave was a fixture in our community from boyhood throughout his adult and in to his senior years. To quote a resident/friend/colleague, "He resonated positively through the community".
Please feel free to send us any photos of Dave you think might add to the evening. By emailing photos you agree to allow the committee to use them on the website or at the event. Send photos to email@example.com
